Top Betting Sites South Africa

SportsBet South Africa review

Share this article is an online sports betting operation that is operated right out of the green and gold country known as South Africa.  They fly their flags high and are proud to be the one online betting house that truly has pulled out all the stops and offer you a myriad of games that you can bet on from around the world.

All games and betting are live, so you have a choice 24/7 of what games you are going to take part in, who you are going to back and what time you are going to play.  So for those night owls, you certainly will not be left without some excitement to while away the night.

Sportsbet is licensed under the bookmakers licence issued by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board. Betting is regulated and controlled by the Western Cape Gambling & Racing Board with full recourse.

The Sportsbet site is pretty simple to look at but it is very functional. They have avoided flooding the landing page with useless information and have included all the important bits on their banners, top menu and side menu. They also have included a very nifty feature that lets you search for an event you want to bet on, we tested this and it worked very well. We’re sure other bookmakers offer this but Sportsbet have it right at the top so it’s not even one click away. One critical point we did notice was that there was a lot of empty prime menu space that was not being used. They could pop a few more links in there to help punters along.

Odds and markets

Sportsbet markets are fairly average with regards to what is actually offered. They have a good range of sports but some of the more exotic sports are very limited in what is on offer.

Football, Tennis, Rugby Union, Horse Racing, Cricket, Golf, Baseball, Basketball, Boxing, Cycling, Darts, Handball, Mixed Martial Arts, Motor Sports, Olympics, Rugby League, Specials, Snooker, US Football, Volleyball, Other Sports, Multiples, plus Live Scores and statistics are all available here.

On the other hand they do offer many markets on big events that many other bookmakers do not offer, so you could say it does balance out in the end. Sportsbet are one of the few bookmakers in South Africa who offer spread betting, so kudos to them for being brave and offering something many punters want..

Sportsbet have fairly decent odds on their fixed betting, you’ll find it’s inline with Sportingbet’s odds. Nothing to blow your socks off but you’ll get a pretty decent price when taking a bet with them.

Live Betting Online

The ability to bet on sports when they have already started is not available on every sports book website. This reliable sports betting site offers real-time bets for players who miss a bet before the game starts. They combine international matches of all sports around the clock, 24 hours a day. Players can find odds for real bets depending on the stage of the game, which can improve your chances of winning.

Lucky numbers

SA punters enjoy testing their luck at cracking the jackpot prize betting on lucky numbers. There is no secret formula to winning, all you need to do is guess the correct numbers to win.  South Africa bettors already know how to bet lotto numbers, which is basically the same procedure.

Although this site is primarily focussed on sports betting, it also has an excellent range of fixed-odds lotto markets, which can be found under the ‘Lotto’ tab under its list of sports markets on the left-hand side of the screen.

Over 60 international lotto markets are available to bet on, including South African games as well as famous games from America, Canada, Germany, the UK, Ireland, Spain and more.

 Overall Experience

You’d can’t go wrong by opening a Sportsbet account. We found them to be solid and reliable but unspectacular. They are one of those account you would use when you can’t find a market somewhere else or you are interested in getting some spread bets down. They are better than a good chunk of local bookmakers but are nowhere near as good as Sportingbet or World Sports Betting. If they were to add a promotion or two they’d be up there. To close this off we do recommend you give Sportsbet a go and decide for yourself.
